Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Tl0yReadC ("the App") handles information. The App is a comic and e-book file reader. It does not bundle, source, or distribute content.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
Tl0yReadC is designed to operate entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store:
- Your comic, book, or PDF files
- Reading history or content preferences
- Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number)
- Device location
- Analytics or crash data through third-party trackers
2. Locally Stored Data
All data created by the App stays on your device unless you explicitly export it:
- Library metadata: file names, paths, cover thumbnails, page counts
- Reading progress: current page, completion status, bookmarks
- User preferences: theme, grid size, display settings
- Parental control settings: PIN hash (stored securely), biometric preference, locked comic IDs
- Saved folder access: URI permissions granted via the system file picker
This data is stored in a local Room database and Android DataStore. You can remove it at any time via Settings > Data > Reset app.
3. File Access
The App reads comic and book files (CBZ, CBR, CBT, CB7, PDF, EPUB) from locations you explicitly choose through the Android system file picker. The App never uploads your files to any server. Files remain under your control on your device or cloud storage provider.
4. In-App Purchases
The App uses RevenueCat to handle premium subscription verification. RevenueCat may collect:
- Transaction identifiers
- Purchase receipt data
- App user ID (anonymized)
This is necessary to validate subscriptions and restore purchases across devices signed into the same app store account. RevenueCat's privacy practices are described at revenuecat.com/privacy.
5. Advertising
The free version of the App displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may use device identifiers and limited data to serve and measure ads. Premium subscribers do not see AdMob ads.
On first launch (and at any time via Settings > Ad privacy), the App uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to collect and record your consent choices for ads served in the EEA, UK, and other regions that require it.
You can also opt out of personalized advertising through your Android device settings (Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization). For more information, see Google Advertising Policies.
6. Backups
You may export a JSON backup of your library database. This file contains metadata and progress data only — not your original comic files. You are responsible for where you store and share this backup file.
7. Widgets
The optional home-screen widget displays your most recently read comic cover and title. This information is read from the same local database and is not transmitted.
8. Internet Access
The App requests the INTERNET permission for subscription verification via RevenueCat and, in the free version, to load advertisements and consent forms via Google AdMob / UMP. No network requests are made for tracking unrelated to these services or for content delivery.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not specifically directed to children under 13. Parental controls are available to restrict access to specific content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Security
Parental control PINs are hashed before storage. Biometric authentication uses the Android system APIs; biometric data never leaves your device.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated effective date.
12. Data Deletion
You can delete all data stored by the App at any time:
- In-app reset: Go to Settings > Data > Reset app to remove the library database, reading progress, bookmarks, and cached covers. Your original comic files on the device are not affected.
- Uninstall: Removing the App from your device deletes all local data automatically.
- RevenueCat data: To request deletion of purchase-related data held by RevenueCat, contact us at [email protected] and we will forward the request.
- Ad identifier: You can reset your device’s advertising ID or delete associated ad-related data through Settings > Google > Ads on Android.
13. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your data rights, please contact us at [email protected].
By using Tl0yReadC, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
